The Self Employed Convention – Botswana

A major socio-economic problem that has robbed the country of stability, peace and development amidst other issues. Unemployment amongst youths in Botswana continued to rise despite Botswana’s government’s well intentioned policies and programmes. The Africa for Africa Youth Initiative identified the need to increase young entrepreneurs and create sustainable employment for youths as .lone of the key strategies to eradicate unemployment in the country, and as a result organized a special intervention / entrepreneurship programme with over 400 youths in attendance from various tertiary institutions across Botswana. The Self-Employed Convention presented the organization the unique opportunity to gather young people to train and equip participants with skills and information on creating new ideas and translating those ideas into businesses thereby creating more job opportunities.  Participants were also taught the essence of starting a business and being self-employed to add up to the economic growth in Botswana and Africa at large. It was an inspiring time for every Botswana Youth who participated.
